The rituaL

I noticed that when working on a film my day becomes a number of different rituals...routines... and if I break these routines I feel lost and am unable to work... Those tech problems through off my routines but I hope to get back on it tomorrow...

I called Tyan tech support and if I RMA the board it will take 5-7 biZ days to get it back...soooo... add in taking it apart and putting it back together etc thats about ten days... I really don't want to take that system apart so I'm to get two 4gb sticks of ram... I have two working dimm slots so I'll have 8gb's again... if something else dies on the board I'll use one of my render nodes as a temp workstation by popping in that 8800gt I have sitting around and use that till the main system is back in action... AND I can still use those 4gb sticks to give me 12gb of ram...

Strangely enough... coffee, yogurt, bicycling, DS and manga are part of my daily ritual...

Oh yeh I finished the 7th revision of the animatic...its right at 120 minutes now... I removed one of the main characters and streamlined the surface story while making it even more insane through the subtext ^ ^ BUT there is some cool shit going on that I'm really excited about... its been worth it churning this thing...

Revision history---> The script went through eight revisions... the first draft of the animatic was made from the eighth revision of the script and now I'm on the eighth revision of the animatic... I'm really really working hard on this thing... well... it is... my life... for these few years so I can't do any less than my best.

With WATS I went into production from the 2nd or 3rd version of the script... I rushed into it like most do ^ ^ and I was revising and changing the story as I made it which caused me to work a lot slower... With HSM... by the time I start production it will have gone through about twenty revision passes... Sooooo I'm thinking I should be able to focus on finishing shots and work faster than never ever before KMFDM is a drug against war.

  1. Yeah I have the same sort of thing. A couple months ago I was sick for like 3 weeks, and it took forever to get back into my routine of writing and animation and stuff. Yeah it sucked.

What format should I render out of Cinema 4d with?

UPDATED 2_27_13!  RENDER USING EXR Lossy Zip16! Since I'm working on a new feature film that will generate over 1500 shots made up of image sequences I need to make sure I choose the right file format to render to lest my hard drives explode. What I need from my format is  at least 16bit, an alpha included and preferably small size. I rendered out a frame from my film tallied up all the file sizes here- their all different types of codecs listed from smallest file size to largest. The render includes an RGBA pass, Depth pass, and Material Luminance pass because thats what I always render out. 1.00mb 8bit-Photo Jpeg %100 1.27mb 8bit-PNG 4.65mb 16bit- EXR lossy ZIP16 5.75mb 8bit-PSD 6.23mb 16bit-EXR lossy PLZ 6.44mb 16bit-PNG 7.94mb 8bit-TIFF 8.50mb 16bit-EXR Lossy 24 9.05mb 16bit-EXR Lossy Run Length 14.6mb 8bit-TARGA 22.4mb 32bit-EXR ZIP16 24.6mb 32bit-EXR Zip1 25.6mb 32bit-EXR PLZ 29.3mb 16bit-TIFF 29.3mb 16bit-PSD 40.0mb 32bit-EXR Run Length 58.7mb 16
