Do you really want to be pwned by these guys?

Ya know I get a lot of " you should make movies for Hollywood" comments from well meaning but unknowing peoples... Well once you sign a contract ANY of the cogs in the system your pretty much owned by one of these old men... Pictured are Sumner Redstone and Rupert Murdoch... two "media moguls"... Americans responsible for turning popular media into the TRASH it is today and subsequently eroding American values and the minds of all of its citizens...just to make a buck..yeah///

So the people in the Hollywood system can PRETEND to be all edgy or whatever but in the end they are OWNED by these old men... They cannot do anything without the approval of old men like these... yeh sounds great 0_0

They push they warped values and distorted ideas on the world...and everyone bows down to them as they slaves just to make a buck... maybe your a slave to them? How does it feel? Is it great? I mean your "successful" you probably own a nice haus and car and wife and have children just like the ones raised in the Disney labs? Your probably an "important" person right? They let you in those "VIP" areas yes? Thats right you've MADE IT! You've made it right into the pig pen with the rest of the bloated swine... enjoy rolling in your own waste... perpetuating your own myths and legends onto a mostly unknowing numbed populace... bUT KNOW THIS... there are some desperate people watching you... we are watching you... you grow richer and more "powerful" in a paper money business sense... but in this new online world you grow weaker and more ignorant... you continue to step on our toes and wave your fingers at us unable to see that your empire is crumbling... soon there will be nothing to shield YOU from US... does that make you comfortable?

The "media" became what it is now because these old bastards were able to control it all print, tv etc.... The internet is out of their control... at least it is until they try to regulate, segregate and censor it... now everything I've written so far was metaphorical eh... but if they fawk with the interwebs its time to RIOT... that is IF anyone out there has any GUTS...mass media has done a great job turning people into slaves who quiver in the face of any "authority" figure... research "power to the people"...read about what happened in San Francisco in the 1960's.... people of all races and cultures came together, celebrated they differences and stood against they common enemy... and the system shook in its boots.... I will live to see it shake in its boots again... I know this... but this time the people won't take the free LSD and waste they minds away...

Ooops that was quite an insane rant wasn't it ^ ^ Here's the old guy I work with...

  1. Aw, give these rich guys a break. They act better than I would if I had piles of money: I'd spend all my time being driven around in my rolls royce, painted dark green with a huge gold leaf dollar sign on the side, drinking champagne and eating caviar while hanging out the retractable roof door, laughing at everyone whose money I had stolen and who were now lying in the gutter being poor while I have all the money in the world.

  2. Is there anyone in Hollywood who you admire? I'm not being sarcastic here, just really interested to know. And what if someone wants to make movies but also wants to travel, have kids, etc. The internet is great for creative freedom but can you really make a healthy income from it, especially enough to support a family?

  3. A choice has to be made... you can create GREAT original innovative films on your own OR have "security" a family etc... if you want to have those things.. than a normal life and career in the mainstream is the thing to choose... right now you cannot have both... and I don't know if you ever were able to.

  4. So are you saying that there isn't anyone in Hollywood that makes great movies? I'll admit my taste is quite cheesy at times but there must be someone who is managing to do a bit of both i.e. have security and make good movies. Or maybe people are innovative when they're young but then have to reel it in when they do decide they want security and kids etc.

  5. Wow mdot what a rant. I also would like to see people step up to the man and Riot and put Adam Sandler on a cross. Its not because i think that something is soo wrong or im an anarchist or anything, its just that I love chaos. There is no point in this comment actually, other than we love you mdot, how ever lonely twisted and insane you might become in your basement. And if you truly want to sacrifice a social life for your movies, then you are my new hero.

  6. @Stefan

Social "lives" are overrated... most all the people I meet are really not that interesting at all... actually they are quite boring... And I'd rather not waste my time/money at pubs doing whatever your supposed to do there... YES I've dedicated my life to my art... and I've never been happier or had more friends in my life than I do now ^ ^ So I'd like to destroy the stereotype of the lonely, miserable, tortured artist... a tortured artist like that would not be able to get in front of large crowds and speak well like I have to do all the time... also they probably dont bench press as much as I do either ^ ^ So yeh I'm out to destroy the stereotype...ITS CHOAS!!!!

  9. Compare movies way back when with todays, older movies were better.

What happened to hollywood that made it so...conformist?

  10. Ahaha! What a sense of humour - you follow THAT guy! I know who it is...

Wow you are really seriously on the front wave of the revolution!

@adam: I dunno, if you take a film class maybe you can find out. I'll say this for sure: these days you probably won't find Katherine Hepburn discussing real literature with Spencer Tracy in a film, as if it's part of all our common culture, and it's taken for granted that we know that book and author!

What format should I render out of Cinema 4d with?

UPDATED 2_27_13!  RENDER USING EXR Lossy Zip16! Since I'm working on a new feature film that will generate over 1500 shots made up of image sequences I need to make sure I choose the right file format to render to lest my hard drives explode. What I need from my format is  at least 16bit, an alpha included and preferably small size. I rendered out a frame from my film tallied up all the file sizes here- their all different types of codecs listed from smallest file size to largest. The render includes an RGBA pass, Depth pass, and Material Luminance pass because thats what I always render out. 1.00mb 8bit-Photo Jpeg %100 1.27mb 8bit-PNG 4.65mb 16bit- EXR lossy ZIP16 5.75mb 8bit-PSD 6.23mb 16bit-EXR lossy PLZ 6.44mb 16bit-PNG 7.94mb 8bit-TIFF 8.50mb 16bit-EXR Lossy 24 9.05mb 16bit-EXR Lossy Run Length 14.6mb 8bit-TARGA 22.4mb 32bit-EXR ZIP16 24.6mb 32bit-EXR Zip1 25.6mb 32bit-EXR PLZ 29.3mb 16bit-TIFF 29.3mb 16bit-PSD 40.0mb 32bit-EXR Run Length 58.7mb 16
