Although I'm the worst marketer in the world I'm an avid follower of Seth Godin's blog/books and he wrote something this week that was very important to me- The smart way to do it is to be unique  before  you get lucky and become famous. Take a listen to an old Talking Heads record or a house designed by Wright early in his career. They were unique before they were famous. This takes more patience, more guts and a lot more weirdness because the thing you're doing is actually interesting before it (if you're lucky) becomes popular. You might not end up as Oprah, but your uniqueness is yours, and it can pay off long before the masses choose you merely because you're the famous one. Now I know my visual style/animation style/filmmaking style is unique BUT those things can easily be copied- I believe the other thing that makes me unique when added to the other elements is that I make full length animated films mostly on my own- so I need to keep doing that- Th

I normally don't comment on reviews I find about me or my work but this one was especially interesting since it was posted by a person whose pseudonym I recognize from comments on this blog. Here is his review of Heart String Marionette as posted on imdb: M Dot Strange's work is hateful to women. One starts to really notice it after seeing all of his work - especially his "badassery" series. Women are always depicted as prostitutes, harlots, as users not to be trusted, or as objects to be raped and discarded, and I find that to be a disgusting attitude - as well as boring. Portraying characters of the opposite gender takes a certain amount of ability to understand them, and I'm not seeing that here.   The character development really needs to be worked on, overall. The visuals and music are great. M Dot Strange could be a great director, and its' amazing that he was able to accomplish this level of quality with just himself and a small team. There'

I hit a low point lately... the lowest point was the other night when I was puking and crying my eyes out apologizing to Endika for failing him with the film... claiming to "want to die" COUGH.... thankfully I'm not dead... but yeh... I sort of lost sight of myself and why I do what I do in the past month or so...  Since he and I are partners in the film I wanted to be able to write a fat check for him so I didn't feel like I wasted years of his life with my ridiculous little movies... since the check I wrote wasn't awe inspiring, with this months even smaller... I felt like I failed... I wanted to be able to tell you all how my digital distribution plan worked great and share it with you...but $2800 profit in over a month and a half isn't like awe inspiring haha... maybe someone else can figure it out and let me know what I'm doing wrong... I even made this site for yall but up till now have been too embarrassed to share it... I forgot that out here

I'm a big fan of his films so I was excited to see that his new film was screening in San Jose today AND he was attending the screening... so I went to check it out... enjoyed the film... a must see for any American male... or American, period... won't say much about the film other than that I enjoyed it and I think you should see it... I got to ask Mr. Solondz a question at the Q & A...or well it was more like I thanked him for making his films... he's a very intelligent and funny guy and his films are one of a kind... if you haven't seen his films I highly recommend them.

It doesn't look like I'll be able to put out much if any making of stuff for Heart String Marionette... I have tons of and tons of material... test renders, behind the scenes videos, all kinds of stuff BUT I'm not going to have the time to go through it all, organize it all and release it until maybe after the next film is done at the end of 2013 I'm thinkin... I'm getting pretty good at the whole making the full length animated film thing... but I still suck at the whole promotional/marketing side of things... wish I had a publicist... well maybe next time... It may sound like bullshit.... but as much as I love Heart String Marionette its not even close to the best I can do... I'm already better right now...  So I'll keep trying to connect the dots.... So hopefully one day I'll figure it all out... until then thanks to all fans, friends, comrades, supporters...to the people that love and care about me enough to help me stay on this path. I'm trying my best... but I'm a hopeless artist lost in his cinematic dreams...thanks for allowing me to continue to dream ^_^

You've probably seen the wildly successful Humble Indie Bundle which bundles together a bunch of indie games in a suitE way... Maybe you also saw the super successful Macheist Bundle which is a bunch of indie Mac software bundled together in a suitE way (Thanks to Krystian for pointing this out to me) If your working on your own animated feature film, animated short film... and are looking to affiliate we should all get together and put them out all at once as a bundle! ^_^ We can co-promote online and offline etc I've been talking to Screamerclauz about this.... we're looking at being finished around December 2013... What do you all think of that? As a creator and as a consumer? Ideas?

When I released We Are The Strange I was able to make it available with subtitles in 17 languages thanks to awesome peoples out on the internet who took the time to translate it. Now I would like to do the same thing with Heart String Marionette. Before the whole film is released on youtube as the "try before buy" version... It would be awesome to get it subbed into at least ten languages... hopefully we can do 17 or more ^_^  If your interested in translating the subtitles all you need to do is download this file . I just laid out the schedule until December 2013 for the production of God Lives Underwater... September 11th 2012- November 30th 2012: Modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging (30+ characters, 10+ sets) December 1st 2013-August 31st: Animation (1,500 shots) September 1st 2013 - December 2nd 2013: Rendering, Compositing, Edit, Fx December 3rd 2013 - December 24th 2013: Sound design/Foley/Mix/Master December 25th 2013: Release Now I'm going to use the same workstation+render nodes I used on HSM so I don't need to spend any money on hardware... the only big expense will be the power all the computers use month to month for rendering... I'm currently looking into solutions for that... computer hardware/software may be getting cheaper and cheaper but power is getting more and more expensive... I've got some ideas I'm going to grinding on to solve that problem... I'll say more when I have the answer ^ ^  I'm looking forward to t

There are three versions of Heart String Marionette... Heart String Marionette Heart String Marionette: The Silent Form Heart String Marionette: Directors Cut Only one has been released at this time... the other two will be released later along with extra's etc... If your primarily printing text documents like scripts and the like... GET A CHEAP LASER PRINTER... I just got this one its so fast and the text is so clean 0_0 I just finished a fairy tale book version of Heart String Marionette that will be released within a week or so... I'm doing a new book called "Diary of a Heart String Marionette" in which it shares/explores the inner thoughts of Samhaine Tsuke and the Kid... and it shares their back stories etc... The books cost me nothing to make as I'm doing them through createspace...and I have written material from them as it was in previous much longer versions of the HSM script... I just need to create the images... which is pretty fast and f
