ReplyDeleteI love these podcasts.
ReplyDeleteDo you think you could do a tutorial on whatever new you learned from making Heart String Marionette?
Fuckin sweet guys...I learned some good stuff. More questions next time.
ReplyDelete2 Questions for the Forever Alone film makers out there!
ReplyDelete1) Were you always alone, or did you have to make the decision to cut off contact with your friends/family in order to get stuff done. That seems like a really big leap to take- how was the transition phase (if there was one)?
2) Can you recommend ANY books that you found to be helpful in your film making process and philosophy? I've already got A_book and B_book, and they're awesome. As humans, we tend to spend a lot of time on the toilet, and we should at least be learning something useful while we're there.
Josh, you should also read his "Tips for the uberector"

Oh cool! I was not aware of this- thanks a lot, Cody. =D
DeleteYou guys mentioned Bandcamp's file section limited to 200mb. Could you sell chapters, or a series that people could pay for instead of itunes app-disguised movies? Also, there's a website that helps people come together to watch movies online. SynchTube. http://www.synchtube.com/ But I think it just takes YouTube videos, synchs them live, and provides a chatroom.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link will check out! Yeh with bandcamp hmmm yeh you could do that...good idea!
DeleteI'm curious about your opinion:
ReplyDeleteHaving made a movie and several shorts that have a heavy video game influence, where do you stand on the "Are video games art?" question?
I was really surprised that Hideo Kojima said 'no', especially after considering how heavy the plots are in the Metal Gear series. I felt like this question was an easy 'yes', but I'm finding more and more people in the industry saying 'no'. I know defining art is a huge mindf*ck to begin with, but without getting all deep and metaphysical, I'm curious what someone else with so much video game inspiration thinks.
Its funny that you asked me that now as I've JUST gotten back into games ^_^ Just got my 3ds in the mail today... Well I believe games CAN be art...depending on how they were made and why... I dont think mainstream films are ART but I believe the films I make alone are... if I were to make games I would deF make art games ^ ^
DeleteSo yeh I think video games can be interactive art installations fer sure!
I'd love to give my remarks, especially considering I've seen Edmund McMillen's games in development.. but I think that's a rant saved for episode 4?
DeleteTOPIC: Reverse Bagpipes
ReplyDeleteQuestion for next episode:
ReplyDeleteDo you think you guys would have been able to express yourselves creatively if born in any earlier time periods? Like ancient times to the early 1900's. If so, how would you do this?
QUESTION
ReplyDeleteHas being an independent artist ever gotten you any females?
What do you think about conspiracy theories?
